The Magic Cabin

One day I was hiking in Briones Regional Park and I thought I saw something on a hill that I hadn’t seen before. When I got closer, I didn’t see anything but then I began to daydream. What if there was something there, like a cabin, but it was magical so it wasn’t always there? From this a story opened up in my mind. I decided I would like to make it into a book, but I wanted to print the pages and bind it myself.

It’s taken eight years for me to get started on this project. Earlier this year, I took a class on a type of Japanese wood block printing called Mokuhanga. With my rudimentary skills learned in the class I started printing out the illustrations.  I have five left to do. I also took an introduction to bookbinding class, and will use my very basic skills to try to bind the pages together.
